Our libraries have launched a photography competition, for children aged 7 to 11, to encourage the county's young snappers to go outdoors and explore the natural world as part of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
The photos can be of anything they see in the North Yorkshire countryside or in their own garden – such as a close up of a plant, an insect, an animal or a view of water, hills or sky.
The winners will see their pictures turned into limited edition library cards that will be used by library members across the county.
While reading their six books for the Summer Reading Challenge this year children can learn all about how to do their bit for the environment.
