The Town Council owns The Broadway car park which it has maintained as a free parking area to support the local shops and library and looks after the raised flower beds separating the car park from the shops and seating area.  In the last few years, there has been a project to install attractive raised ironwork benches with floral designs along the walkways of the A6136 and Colburn Village with tubs of seasonal plants to bring colour to the area.  They are well used by walkers and appreciated by residents.  The adjoining parishes of Brough with St Giles and Scotton have continued the bench theme to enhance the whole Garrison area.

Colburn Sidings Woods were acquired by the Town Council when the historic area was purchased for housing development.  In memory of all the regiments who served in the World Wars when this area was the end of the railway line which transported machinery, munitions, soldiers and all supplies to and from the front line, a Memorial Walk has been installed with a Memorial bench in the quiet grassed area besides the Woods.

The Town Council maintains 7 Play Parks the largest of these is at Piper Hill in the centre of the main housing area behind The Broadway.  Here there is a MUGA together with outdoor exercise equipment and a zip wire.  Albermarle Play park is large with an area for football activity together with a zip wire and other play equipment.  There are smaller play areas at Grange Road, Bridge Close and 3 Parks within The Chase housing area on the other side of the A6136.

Colburn Village situated around Colburn Beck is a lovely place to walk and the Coast to Coast public path runs through the Village and onto Brompton on Swale.  The central wooded area around the bridge is Common Land held by the Town Council on behalf of the residents.

The Town Council supports the Colburn Youth Project which offers activities for children from aged 10-14+ using the Library, the Village Hall and the Sports Centre.  This has resulted in a reduction in anti-social behaviour and is well supported with a need for a younger group to cover 6-10 yr olds to encourage engagement with their community and make more friends.

From 1st February 2023, the Town Council actively financed the new charitable group that took over the lease of the Council owned Colburn Sports Centre working with the existing user groups at the Centre.  With volunteer help and sponsorship from local businesses, they have transformed the building and upgraded the football pitches for regular use.  There is much to be done for long term carbon reduction and energy saving but the facility is at the heart of large scale housing and offers residents a variety of gymnastic, exercise, yoga, boxing classes with plenty of ideas for the future.
